Shelley Hanson

Queen Christiana Shelley Renee Hanson is third-generation St. Paul Carnival Association royalty. Her grandfather, Charles Bates, was King Christian LIII in 1983, and her father, Herbert Courtenay Hanson, Jr., was King Christian LXXXII in 2012.

Shelley's family history with Carnival spans nearly 80 years and three generations, to  her grand-aunt Julia Hanson Cerra, Queen Christiana 1941.  Shelley's grandfather, Herbert C. Hanson, was a Duke in 1941 and Queen's Escort in 1957 to her grand-aunt, Queen Christiana Dora Ellen Hanson Pickich.  Her grand-uncle, Shannon Pickich, was King Christian XXVI in 1959. Shelley's cousin, Laura McDonald Pickich, was Queen Christiana 1988, and her aunt, Joann Hanson York, was Queen Christiana 2016.

Shelley has been a Maid on the Royal Court many times and is also actively involved with St. Paul's Carnival Association as a volunteer and board member. She has served on the Board of Directors since 2014 and as a board officer for several years, including as Vice President and Secretary. She also gives back to her community in many other ways, including through disaster relief and holiday giving efforts with Catholic Charities and her workplace.

A native of Pass Christian, Shelley attended St. Paul Elementary School and Our Lady Academy. Shelley loves the Mississippi Gulf Coast, especially being out on the water and seeing sunsets over the gulf every day. She is now helping others find their home here on the coast through her work in the mortgage business, where she has been employed for more than 15 years. She is currently a senior loan processor with CMG Financial in Biloxi.
